Mahapool’s Mobile & Web applications (“Apps”) together make it easy for users to share travel related information. Mahapool apps help people communicate and collaborate to meet their travel itinerary.

We are designing Mahapool Apps, to be able to handle simple day-to-day travel needs as well as travel solutions for large transport companies. With Mahapool apps, travel requirements of the user are stored securely online, accessible from the pre-defined (registered) mobile device. The prerequisite for the app is that the mobile should have internet connectivity. As the data of the user is online (servers will store details of the traveller, favourite travel destinations, routes, etc.), therefore travel needs can be processed and matched to other users quickly(from vehicle owners to pooling requestors).Instead of the users having to maintain telephone numbers of probable matches, they’ll always get the most relevant matches along with alerts, identification details of relevant matches so that they can focus on road rather than call up the probable matches.

Finally, we firmly believe that flexible system is what one needs; therefore, Mahapool Apps allows the user to modify travel needs at any time or place in country at any point in time.

Timeline

Our company is conceived by the promoters who are the 1st Generation entrepreneurs in India. Some of the key milestones in Mahapool’s development till date are as follows:

2002 to 2012

• 2002-2004

PProblems associated with “Traffic Jams” analysed & the idea of a pooling system is conceived. Solution involves use of mobile phone for the “pooling system”.

• 2004

Patent application filed in April 2004 with Indian Patent Office.

• 2005

Patent application filed with European Patent Office (EPO) under Patent Cooperation Treaty. Pooling solution published as International Patent ‘PCT/IN05/00126’ under Patent Cooperation Treaty.

• 2006-2007

Communication was done with the Indian Patent office in order to acquire the required patent.

• 2008

Patent granted for Vehicle Pooling system through Mobile which is valid till 2024.

• 2009-10

Search for right mobile hardware & wireless carrier began but there was no supporting technology available for the commercial launch.

• 2011

Started developing team to launch pooling solution. Mobile handset with Android OS 2.1 & higher selected to start along with 2G / 3G / higher GPRS connectivity.

“Mahapool” was selected as name of the solution & Domain name booked for www.mahapool.com & www.mahapool.in.

• 2012

Preliminary project activity was done & team for system development was shortlisted.

Project development started with Elite Technologies, Chandigarh with own funds. Mahapool’s logo copyrights are taken.

Patent rights for the vehicle pooling solution were granted by The Patent Office, Government of India till 19-04-2024.

Mahapool is launching services not only to cater the car pooling for passenger segment but also 2-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, taxis & even public transport on road.

• Data availability and security

Although Mahapool’s app is downloaded on user’s handset, most of the data associated with the App. is transferred & stored on Mahapool’s machines, rather than on user’s Mobile handset. Servers constantly monitor status of pooling requirement & on re-confirmation with user send relevant information to enable pooling.

Further we store user’s data at multiple locations on multiple servers so as to get proper secure & backup data with reduced downtime.

Technological overview of the system

Verification upon registration

We take safety & security of our users seriously. There is no “perfect system” nor Mahapool claims to be able to deliver that

but we are trying to achieve the best possible system.

To access Mahapool, users need to provide their Identification details. Upon successful verification of identification

details only, users will be given access to Mahapool service. This ensures that the users of the system are verified before

being displayed as valid poolers. In addition to initial filtering, the users are asked to update the details periodically,

making sure that at any point in time the system is updated with correct information.

Users can key-in frequently used destinations & routes; create groups, personal prefences, etc. Destinations & routes can be

entered using Google Maps on mobile, logged-in in via website, calling customer care or simply by travelling on the desired

route with input mode – ON. Mahapool will be sending sms containing password to registered users mobile when they log-in to

the application initially. Users can customise the password to log-in as per their convenience. After password verification,

the registered User can enter their travel needs. Users have option to select their pre-defined destinations with routes or

add new destination, or even change status (from Vehicle Owner to Persons willing to Pool), etc.

Search and access of Information

User’s requirement is sent to Mahapool machines and compared with all the requirements stored to identify the most relevant

matches. Within seconds, our system prepares a list of the most relevant matches. We strive to make our information:
